A brand new collection: Glitterati

I worked with a lovely bride earlier this year to create a bespoke design, with the brief:

"I'm going very simple and elegant for the wedding. Just white flowers and candlelight with navy bridesmaids. I want to keep the stationery very unfussy to reflect this".

If you'd like to read more about the design process we went through, there's an article all about Tina & Wayne on my website HERE

I sourced some beautiful, sparkling white glitter board to use as the basis for her design, and ordered some swatches of other colours at the same time.  When the sample pack arrived I was so impressed with the quality, sheer amount of glitter on the board and the dazzling array of colours I just knew I had to make a collection with them!

A few months later, based on that initial bespoke design, the Glitterati collection is now live on the website.  It is a full suite of wedding invitations (including pocketfold, classic folded, cheque book and flat designs) and coordinating on the day stationery, all printed and made to the very highest standard, by me, in my little studio just outside Cardiff.

There are a few highlights here, but you can view the entire collection, along with prices and how to order, on my website HERE.

I've also been putting together a mood board HERE on Pinterest, so you can see how you might pull a whole 'glitter & sparkle' wedding theme together.  I hope you like it!

Striking hot pink & black damask wedding stationery

I met Louise back last year, I had been recommended to her for wedding stationery (always nice!).

Louise was looking for a bold, striking design for her stationery to fit in with her hot pink and black themed black tie wedding celebration.  My Vintage Damask design fitted the bill perfectly, but with a square diamante buckle instead of the usual round.

She chose pocketfold invitations for the day guests, and flat layered cards for the evening.

On the day stationery included very simple, postcard size order of the day cards (a great alternative to an order of service for civil ceremonies).

Place cards in the classic tent style, with all the guests' names ready printed.

And a fabulous table plan mounted onto a mirror supplied by Louise.

After collecting her stationery Louise posted this lovely comment on my Facebook page.

"Jo has just completed my wedding stationery. It's truly beautiful. The quality and attention to detail is outstanding. Thank you so much xx"

Sparkling Snowflake Winter Wedding Invitations

Wedding invitations are often the only detail of the wedding that are revealed before the day itself.  Most couples send them out 8 to 12 weeks before the wedding (although this can vary a lot depending on the time of year).

Consequently, as a stationery designer, I am always working quite a few months ahead.  Springtime then, obviously means it's time to start looking at winter wedding designs!

These are a bespoke design that I have put together for a couple this week, but I like them so much they may well make the main collections on my website very soon.  Check out the 'seasonal & destination themes' section on the website for more winter designs.

Pretty Pegs for Place Cards

I got all excited today when my delivery of ribbons and other lovely things arrived.
Amongst the pretties were these gorgeous pegs, just perfect for attaching place cards to glasses - what do you think?

Makes a change from the classic tent fold style place cards, and adds a bit of height and interest to your table.

Black and ivory vintage style invitations

Today I packed by kiddies back off to school after their Easter holiday and got back to my studio for some serious work!
It was really satisfying to see a table full of finished invitations ready to pack and send out tomorrow. These are an elegant vintage style set of invitations, a variation on my Charming collection, with black ribbon, ivory lace and a gorgeous oval shape pearl and diamante cluster embellishment.

Playing with vintage style typography

This week I have been having a dabble with some vintage style typographic invitations.  These are for a 40th birthday party, but could easily be adapted for any occasion.  I'm quite pleased with the result . . . .

A lovely card dropped though my letterbox this week -

Jo,
Thank you so much for all of our gorgeous stationery for our wedding day.  It was all truly beautiful!,
Love Sophie & Tom Kippax

You are very welcome Sophie & Tom, your thank you card was beautiful too!

Sophie & Tom created a bespoke design for their August 2012 wedding, based on our Vintage Pearls design, with the addition of some delicate lace to tie in with Sophie's dress.

Clare's bespoke vintage invitations

Clare contacted us late last year looking for invitations.  Wanting something with a vintage feel she liked our Shabby Rose and Baroque designs, but felt that neither of them were 'quite right'.  So we sat down in the studio with a desk full of bits of card, ribbons and gorgeous sparkly things, and came up with these . . .

. . . which she loved, and thought were 'absolutely perfect'!!  They are flat, layered invitations with a subtle sage green damask print on ivory pearlescent card baked with sage green card.  Fine, cream satin ribbon embellished with a small pearl and diamante vintage style button, finishes the look with a little bit of elegant sparkle!

We're looking forward to making the co-ordinating on the day stationery now!

Natalie & Gareth's bespoke design

Natalie & her mum Diane contacted me earlier this year to design stationery for Natalie & Gareth's August Wedding. After a productive first meeting and lot's of discussion about their theme, likes, dislikes (and of course budget!), we came up with a design incorporating satin & chiffon ribbons and a stunning diamante and pearl centrepiece. They were thrilled with the design and so ordered a complete matching stationery collection including wedding & evening invitations, individual menus, table names, table plan, guest book and post box.

Diane emailed after Natalie collected her on the day stationery:

Hi Jo

Just wanted to say Thank You very much for the rest of the stationery. It was fab, everything we asked for but looked so much nicer than we imagined and I'm sure it will all look lovely on the day.

Youa are a credit to your business as you adhered to every promise you made.

Once again, thanks for everything, we would be happy to recommend you to others.

Best regards
Diane

a recent commission

Amanda & Troy contacted us recently.  Their brief was this:

"We would like an invitation that conjures an invitation from a child to their imaginary future wedding, whilst not making the invite itself tacky, or giving the impression that we are not taking the wedding seriously"

They already had some design elements - a child's drawing and a handwritten quotation - that they wanted to include, and they quite liked the layout of our Bond Street design.  Amanda was keen to make a feature of the childish element, whilst Troy preferred a more serious, traditional style of invitation.  We wanted to make them both happy!

Quite a few emails, a couple of phone calls and much head scratching later, we came up with a design that we were all pleased with . . .
A pocket invitation that initially looks quite fun and childlike, but once the outer band wrap is removed a classic and elegant invitation is revealed beneath.

This is the last email that Amanda sent once she'd received the finished invites.

Hi Jo,

I got the invites on Friday. Thank you very much, they are absolutely perfect and we both love them.

I still cant believe how well you managed to translate our cryptic request into something that made both of us happy especially given Troy and I had such a different idea of what we wanted. You gave me some of my best ideas!

Please feel free to pass on my details should anyone want a reference for the fantastic work you perform.

Kind regards
Amanda
